The Official Release date of Insanity Asylum 2 has been rumored to be sometime around Oct. 18th, 2012. That is just around the corner, but PERFECT timing for me. I will have just completed my latest round of P90X and will be afforded a couple weeks to rest and actively recover — Damn, I’m not gonna lie. I’m a bit anxious to see what Insanity Asylum 2 will bring — the original Insanity Asylum was HANDS DOWN, the most difficult workout I’ve ever done. Check out this video I made last year after my first Asylum Fit Test. I had just come off of a couple rounds of P90X and Insanity, so I was thinking that it would be more of the same thing… WRONG! I would have never guessed just how much pain a Ladder and a Jump Rope could bring, lol.

Insanity Asylum 2 – Spawned from the best minds in Sports Science…
While studying for my by P90X Certification, I was amazed by the amount of science and research that went behind the development of that program. Likewise, Beachbody has recruited the top minds in sports science to develop Insanity Asylum 2. While everyone knows Shaun T, I recently did a bit of research on Dr. Marcus Elliott, the co developer of Insanity Asylum 2. Dr. Elliott is one of the top leaders in the field of sports science, specializing in optimal conditioning as well as injury prevention. He has trained some of the world’s top athletes which include those at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, the Australian Institute of Sport, and the Sports Science Institute of South Africa. Dr. Elliott’s primary focus has been on peak performance and injury prevention in U.S. professional power-based sports, including baseball (Seattle Mariners), basketball (Utah Jazz, football (New England Patriots), volleyball and soccer. His resume pretty much speaks for itself!
Insanity Asylum 2 – Expect Performance Based RESULTS
“I pick things up… and put them down”, have you ever seen that commercial? lol… Basically, before I was introduced to the P90X and Insanity, I used to be that guy. I would head over to the gym and hit up the glamour muscles while neglecting a lot of functional exercises that would have maximized my overall performance. I know am not alone… So many exercise programs have weaknesses in them because they fail to address how the body functions. Our bodies are not a statues — the body works and functions in multiple planes and directions, not just one muscle or one direction at a time. Just as it’s predecessor, I think that Insanity Asylum 2 will address the needs of professional athletes and weekend warriors alike, by developing speed, agility, balance and explosive power. You do not get this by laying on a bench press and doing 10 reps for 3 sets. It just is not very functional and does not relate to what you need to do on the sports field, the trail, the pool, etc.

Insanity Asylum 2 – A Means to an Ends
While in Vegas, I had a chance to meet up with my friend Terrance, one of the featured athletes in Insanity Asylum Volume 2. While he was not able to give me specifics, I got the sense that this program, as with it’s predecessor, will be using dynamic multi-directional moves so your body will be in optimal shape. You’ll be working both major muscles as well as stability muscles which will transform not only how your body looks, but how it performs too. Insanity Asylum Volume 2 is not just about 6 pack abs, or completing the program itself. It’s about approaching it as a means to an ends, maximizing your performance level in order to do what ever it is you want to do, a heck of a lot better. This is really speaks to me, as I just got into hiking last year and LOVE it. The problem is that after 10 miles of climbing up and down those mountains, I am toast, lol. I really am looking to get to the point where I can trek for up to 22 miles in a day — Hopefully, Insanity Asylum 2 will enable me to push closer to that goal.
