“ … I went from an essential couch potato to training for a 1/2 marathon in 90 days!”
After hearing me go on and on about my P90x/Shakeology fitness journey, one of my work associates decided to give it a try.
Steven and his wife Rachael joined our team’s online Fitness Challenge went through the program and were really making decent progress. Towards the end of their first round of P90X, Steven advised me that I failed to mention the “hidden costs” of the program.
P90X Hidden Costs?
When asked about what he meant, he advised that he had to buy an entire new wardrobe for his wife, Rachael! She went from a size 14 down to a size 4! Not only that, she started running and entering triathlons.
Shortly after our conversation, I reached out to Rachael on Facebook. When I saw her photos, I could not believe her incredible transformation!
Here’s her story in her own words:
The past 18 months have been a journey in finding myeslf once again and regaining control over my body. In May of 2011 I was 190 lbs. a size 12 (almost 14) and so unhappy with myself.
At first it was NOT easy and there were days I didn’t want to get my workout in but the thing that kept me going in the beginning was the thought and challenge that I could do ANYTHING for 90 days.
I kept pushing play and eventually changes started happening. Once I started loosing pant sizes and feeling better from exercising and eating right it became not only easy to do my workouts but a necessary part of my day!
By the end of 90 days I was down 21 lbs. and training for my first 1/2 marathon, YES, that’s right, I went from an essential couch potato to training for a 1/2 marathon in 90 days!
After many months of training I completed my 1/2 marathon in a time of 1:51:13 and I attribute much of my success to P90X legs and back, it gave me the leg stamina to keep my pace for that distance! I was thrilled at the new me who could accomplish such a feat!
After the 1/2 marathon I wanted more so I started training for a sprint triathalon. I am a former swimmer so by adding in cycling I was able to train and conquer something that I would have thought 100% impossible just one year earlier.
In May of 2012 I completed my first triathalon, almost one year to the day from starting my fitness journey. I finished a 750 meter swim, 13 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run in 1:24:10. At this point I had become a fitness/workout/healthy eating junkie!
In June of 2012 I had to have major reconstructive knee surgery due to a congenital malformation of my knee. Being at such a high fitness level I was able to move quickly through the recovery and rehabilitation process. Although I am still not able to run, I am working everyday towards keeping myself fit and healthy for my family and myself.
It is a journey I would have not ever thought possible, but was and is for anyone who is willing to give it the effort.
Now 18 months later I am 145 lbs. a size 2-4 and cannot imagine feeling better! Anyone considering a change in their lives needs to remember that if a 190 lb., 34 year old, mother of 2 can do it they can to!!
There are no excuses!!! P90x and Beachbody has truly changed our lives!
